TOY NEWS FOR 6/30/2014 - NECA - ALIENS - XENOMORPH QUEEN

At long, long last we're finally getting our first look at NECA's upcoming Alien Queen figure!

It certainly turned out even better than I expected it would, and that's saying a lot considering how impressive [most] or NECA's figures and products are.

This has been a long time coming, and I don't know an Aliens fan who won't be wanting one of these for their collection.

With the Power Loader and Ripley coming later this year, I can imagine that there will some awesome displays on collector's shelves by year's end. (I know there will be on mine!)

The figure will stand a whopping 15" tall and will measure 30" in length! It will also feature 30 points of articulation.

I image that NECA will include a stand for the figure because the idea of standing this beast ("bitch") on it's own is going to be virtually impossible.

It has a release date of October with pricing info to be announced.

TOY NEWS FOR 6/30/2014 - NECA - PACIFIC RIM - SCUNNER KAIJU - PACKAGED PHOTO

I'm looking forward to picking up this figure! But then again, I look forward to picking up all of NECA's Pacific Rim figures...

Scunner will be a stand-alone release and not part of an "assortment".

The figure should start hitting stores and online retailers next week for between 25-30 dollars.

TOY NEWS FOR 6/30/2014 - SDCC EXCLUSIVES - ENTERTAINMENT EARTH - TOYS R US EXCLUSIVE PRODUCTS

Everyone is calling these SDCC exclusives, but they really aren't.

Entertainment Earth will just be selling a bunch of Toys R Us exclusive products that won't be hitting shelves for a few more months.

Listed for sale at the Entertainment Earth booth are--

POWER RANGERS MIGHTY MORPIN' LEGACY LORD ZED

GI JOE "DANGER AT THE DOCKS" SET

MY LITTLE PONY EQUESTRIA GIRLS  ZECORA

MY LITTLE PONY QUEEN CHRYSALIS

STAR WARS 6" BLACK SERIES "CANTINA SHOWDOWN" SET

TMNT CLASSIC 1990 MOVIE FIGURES

No prices have been set for these pieces, but I expect they'll be the same as TRU's retail for them.

TOY NEWS FOR 6/30/2014 - SDCC EXCLUSIVE - FUNKO - POP! VINYL - HANNIBAL and SPONGE BOB

Well, this couldn't be a more polar opposite pair....

Funko has announced these two new exclusives for SDCC.

The first is a Pop! Vinyl of Hannibal Lecter covered in the blood of his latest victim and the other is Sponge Bob as Leonardo from TMNT.

Both will be available at the Funko booth with prices to be announced.

TOY NEWS FOR 6/30/2014 - SDCC EXCLUSVIE - FUNKO/SUPER 7 - ReACTION - FIREFLY - MALCOLM REYNOLS and JAYNE COBB

Personally, I'm not a fan of this line.

The initial Aliens figures were pretty awesome, but the following product has been less than impressive.

But, I know that between the retro figure fans and Firefly fans, these are sure to be great sellers at SDCC.

Look for them at the Funko booth at SDCC. Price to be announced.

TOY NEWS FOR 6/30/2014 - SDCC EXCLUSIVE - HASBRO - JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS - ROCKIN' ROMANCE JEM

I think that this is the third year in a row that Hasbro has had an exclusive Jem doll for SDCC and they've all been very successful-- although a bit of downer for doll collectors since most don't attend comic conventions.

This year's doll will be "Rockin' Romance Jem" and will feature a retro style box.

This doll will be available at the Hasbro sales booth at SDCC for $139.99

TOY NEWS FOR 6/27/2014 - MEDICOM - MAFEX - THE DARK NIGHT RISES and STAR WARS

Here are some pics from Medicom's toy show in Japan last week.

Shown were some awesome looking upcoming figures from the MAFEX line, including the Batpod, Catwoman and a Stormtrooper to accompany their already shown Darth Vader.

If you're not familiar with Medicom's MAFEX line, they are high-quality 6" action figures imported from Japan.

So far they have released Batman from the Dark Knight Rises and Spider-Man from Amazing Spider-Man. Upcoming are The Joker from DKR, Spider-Man from Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Darth Vader.

The Selena Kyle here looks absolutely amazing, and it's really got me wanting all the DRK figures, which means now I've got to hunt down a Batman and hopefully won't have to pay through the nose for him.

TOY NEWS FOR 6/27/2014 - BANDAI - S.H. FIGUARTS - INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US - BATMAN

Here's a sneak peek at SH Figuarts' upcoming Batman figure from the Injustice video game.

Price and release date info to be announced.

TOY NEWS FOR 6/27/2014 - SDCC EXCLUSIVE - GENTLE GIANT - STAR WARS - JEK PORKINS BUST

One of the most aptly named Star Wars characters will be getting his very own bust care of Gentle Giant, exclusively at SDCC.

Cost at the con will be $85.00

TOY NEWS FOR 6/27/2014 - HOT TOYS - MMSC001 & 002 - 1/12 (6") SCALE - THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - THE BAT WITH BATMAN & SELENA KYLE (CATWOMAN)

So, it turns out the The Bat vehicle that Hot Toys has been showing for the last year-- which I assumed they decided was too large and expensive for people to actually buy and was cancelled-- is going to be released in a 1/12 scale (6" scale).

I don't know if Hot Toys will be doing any other 6" figures, but the idea is pretty exciting!

Personally, I'd prefer a 6" Batman with the Tumbler, but I understand that the point of this set is mainly to produce The Bat vehicle and not to start a 6" figure line.

I was considering the idea of getting one of these-- until I saw the price. Yikes!

The set will be sold in two ways... One set (MMSC001) will contain just The Bat and Batman, the other (MMSC002) will be The Bat, Batman, the fusion reactor (from the end of the film) and Catwoman.

Of course, with the addition of the Catwoman figure, that is the more desirable set.

The Bat will also come with a remote that will activate the propeller and all the lights on the vehicle. (They really need to start doing this for all their 1/6 scale figures, too! It's a pain in the butt to turn on all of Iron Man's lights on at a time and have to take the figure on and off the shelf every time.)

So, let's get back to the price-- which I usually put after the pics, but is so crazy that I'll put them here instead.

The set with Batman and The Bat will retail for $689.99 and the set with Catwoman and the fusion reactor will retail for $779.99.

These are not prices for the casual-- or even regular-- Hot Toys collector. These are prices for the hard-core, "gotta have every Hot Toys piece" collectors.

The only bit of good news, if you're looking to get one of these, is that you have plenty of time to save (or use Sideshow's payment program) as these sets aren't due for release until October of 2015, and even then, I expect them to be pushed back a little further (as so many HT products are.)

As mentioned, this will be released in October of 2015 for $689.99 or $779.99, depending on which set you purchase.
