Mattel is the first company to reveal a few of their exclusives for July's SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con)-- which is only 2 1/2 months away!
These exclusives are...... well, to be honest, pretty boring.
I know that many fans have been clamoring for a Filmation (cartoon) style Hordak, so this should make many fans rather happy, but for an SDCC exclusive, it's kind of weak. A simple repaint? After the past few years exclusives-- which haven't skyrocketed on the aftermarket, but were still pretty popular with collectors (except maybe that "Mo-Larr" dud of a set)-- that contained tons of newly tooled parts, a repaint of an old figure seems pretty lazy.
The figure will also include the "Imp". I'm not familiar with the Princess of Power cartoon (where Hordak appeared as the main villain), so I have no idea who the Imp is, but if you buy Hordak at Comic-Con, he'll also come with a second version of the Imp in the shape of.... a piece of luggage? Okay....
The second announcement isn't much of an "announcement" since Toy Guru pretty much said that this figure would be an exclusive for 2014's SDCC some time ago.
This is one of the two versions of Doomsday that were to be a part of 2014's DC Universe subscription line. But, since the line didn't meet the subscription minimum requirements, this-- and the better, more proper version of Doomsday-- were left lingering in limbo.
But, as I mentioned, Toy Guru made it pretty clear that this version of Doomsday would just be moved to an exclusive for this year's SDCC. And, so, here he is.
Boo to that Hordak. I had heard that he might be the exclusive, but you nailed it...WEAK. Making his arm cannon would have made my head explode. No dice Matty.
