This figure was shown off at SDCC (and other conventions) at the same time the other Guardians figures were revealed, but as each came up for solicitation, and then release, we never saw anything about that Drax figure that Hot Toys showed.
Many speculated that actor/westler Dave Bautista's likeness was locked up with other license agreements preventing Hot Toys from releasing a figure with his likeness. I found that to be a pretty fair speculation, and with the figure finally going up for pre-order, it's probably that those previous agreements may have finally expired.
Although, we'll probably never know what happened to delay Drax, but it doesn't matter anymore, because here he is!
Drax is slated to be released somewhere between Aug-Oct for $219.99
