With the huge success of the Alien ReAction figure, Super 7-- who has joined forces with Funko, taking full advantage of the wide reaching distribution-- they quickly decided to continue the line with a bevy of other pop culture licenses.
The first lines we're getting a look at (with many, many more to come) are Predator, Terminator, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Escape from New York and The Rocketeer.
I have to say, over all, these figures are really disappointing when compared to what Super 7 did with the Alien figures.
I hope that most of these are early stage prototypes because they look rough, cheap and unfinished.
I know that they are retro figures, but as I said, when compared to the meticulous execution of the Alien figures (which, granted, were originally sculpted and designed by Kenner themselves) these are clearly lacking.
The Nightmare stuff looks pretty good. Actually, damn good. The Rocketeer also looks nice, and I'm glad that they gave him a removable helmet and backpack.
But the Predators looks especially terrible. The Terminator figures are pretty weak over-all. And the Snake Plissken figures are just so-so. (I think that they really need to lighten that beard.)
Perhaps we'll see something more final-- and better looking-- at Toy Fair in a few weeks. I have (had?) high hopes for this line, so I really hope that they pull it together and give it the love and quality that these licenses deserve.
On a positive note, where the Alien figure were priced at $15 each, all the new figure will be $9.99
ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK
THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS
PREDATOR
THE TERMINATOR
THE ROCKETEER
