TheFoosh.com has secured these awesome photos of 2015's first new Marvel Legends wave-- Avengers Infinite.
This wave will-- thankfully!!!-- have no Captain America and no Iron Man and will instead include a slew of figures that many fans have been wanting for quite some time.
Let's take a look at this new wave...
First up there's Carol Danvers in her new Captain Marvel costume. I absolutely love everything about this figure, including that we get a second head sculpt featuring her helmeted head.
Classic Hawkeye! I'm fine with Hawkeye's newer costume, but the classic is exactly that-- classic. This is one of the figures that Hasbro tempted us with years ago, displaying it at Comic-Con and then announcing it as a "swap out" figure that never materialized. But, now, here he is, and he's even sporting an improved sculpt from the original planned release.
I know many people would prefer the original green and yellow Iron Fist, but personally, I like this newer version much better. The classic version is certainly cool, but a bit dated looking with that giant 70's collar, and the all white costume just looks more powerful and "zen"-- which fits the character perfectly. But, the best part about this figure-- the hands! Look at all those interchangeable hands!
Machine Man. In case you didn't know, Machine Man is awesome. I guess these days he definitely runs on the obscure end of the Marvel character spectrum, but between those original Kirby comics and Barry Windsor-Smith's 4-issue limited series, he's definitely deserving of a Legends figure. And besides that, the figure looks absolutely awesome. I love the metallic paint!
This version of Thor, though made of mostly re-used parts from the Marvel Age Thor, still looks fantastic, and I do prefer the more classic sleeveless look for him.
And now we get to what I think is the shining gem of this wave-- Scarlet Witch. For a long time now, we've been in dire need of a new Scarlet Witch figure (as well as a new Ms Marvel and Spider-Woman, too, and Hasbro is taking care of those, too!) and I couldn't ask for a better version than this one.
As an artist who makes his living from drawing mostly female character illustrations, I can tell you first hand that the most important part of any character (but especially female ones) is that the face is the most important part. If a drawing-- or figure-- has a weird or wonky face, it doesn't matter how good the rest looks because that bad face just kills it.
Well, one of the highest points of this figure-- and there are many-- is the absolutely gorgeous head sculpt on Wanda Maximoff! Between the face and the hair, this figure is just a perfect representation of infamously beautiful heroine!
Ugh. The Sentry.
I'm not a huge fan of this character. He was just a walking mcguffin in the Marvel Universe for way too long. Many writers tried to make him interesting, and for a moment, I started falling for it. But, in the end, there was just never anything really likeable about this child-like, psycho, wanna-be hero.
I'll be picking him up just for the build-a-figure parts.
Speaking of the build-a-figure, this wave will allow you to make two figures-- one of the All-Father of Asgard, Odin, and with an additional head, cape and arm, you can also make the elder, future Thor as he appeared in the first story arc of the Marvel Now relaunch of the series-- which was one of the best Thor stories ever, BTW.
If you're looking to make both figures for your collection, then you'll need to pick up an extra figure of Thor, Iron Fist and Hawkeye.
No word on exactly when this wave will be hitting, but since we're now seeing the the packaged pics that will probably be around Jan/Feb.
