TOY FAIR 2013 COVERAGE!!!
It's certainly no surprise to see Iron Man and War Machine from the upcoming Iron Man 3 movie, but I'm a little put off by the look of the figures. There are certain things that set Marvel Select apart from Hasbro and other "toy" companies, mainly that they focus on the collector's market and their figures are of a much higher quality. In fact, Marvel Select has grown in leaps and bounds in the last few years and have become one of the top super hero figure companies-- especially in the 7" scale.
But take a close look at Iron Man and War Machine... Notice how they are just cast in dull plastic... What happened to those slick, metallic paints that their previous Iron Man figure had??? This has me worried that they are looking to cut back on some of the things that separate them from the rest of the pack. I guess we'll have to wait to see how the final product looks. (I also saw the new Expendables 2 figures at Toys R Us and they were NOT up to par with Marvel Select's usual releases, so this is what makes me worry, as well.)
Thanks for marvelousnews.com for the pics!
IRON MAN Mk 42
WAR MACHINE v2
CLASSIC GHOST RIDER (JOHNNY BLAZE)
It's great to see such a substantial figure of the original Ghost Rider finally getting made! This was one of my favorite comics as a kid. It's the was perfect mix of super hero adventure and brutal horror. But, what bums me out is.... no bike! Ghost Rider is synonymous with his bike! It's like Cap without his shield or Thor without his hammer.
GREEN GOBLIN
Based on the Amazing Spider-Man #39 cover
UPCOMING: SILVER SURFER
Always cool to see a Surfer figure! My hope is that he'll be vac-metalized, but he'll probably just either be molded or painted silver...
