That what I thought the minute I saw these new Batman Animated style figures of Batman and Catwoman. Mr Freeze and Two-Face will also be part of the first wave of figures.
I've loved that TV series since the day it first aired, and while both Kenner and Mattel did a fine job with their animated lines, they certainly don't stack up to today's toy standards; so amongst current toys on your shelf, they look pretty weak.
I can only image that this will be the opening volley in a new line of figures from DC Direct-- or at least I hope so! There's certainly plenty of figures they could do from the Batman, Superman and even the Justice League cartoons! I'm just a total sucker for those Bruce Timm designs.
DC Direct also unveiled a quartet of new figures from their Designer Series, once again featuring the art of Greg Capullo from his run on Batman.
More New 52 figures are on the way, also! Including Batgirl, Nightwing and Supergirl.
And finally, here are some images of the Batman and Robin from the "Son of Batman" storyline.
Animated Batman and Catwoman will be released in November (such a long wait!) for $24.99 each.
The New 52 figures will be out in September for $24.99 each.
Finally, the Designer Series and Son of Batman figures will be released around the same time-frame (Q3), once again, all for $24.99 each.
