TOY NEWS FOR 2/2/2016 - HASBRO - 3.75" MARVEL LEGENDS - NEW 2-PACKS REVEALED

Here's a look at some newly revealed 3.75" Marvel Legends 2-Packs.

There are some pretty nice figures in this new offering-- specifically the Sam Wilson (Falcon) Captain America and the Jane Foster version of Thor.

I'd love to see these two done in the 6" format. Hopefully we'll see something shown at Toy Fair in a few weeks.

TOY NEWS FOR 2/2/2016 - MATTEL/MATTY COLLECTOR - THUNDERCATS SUBSCRIPTION EXCLUSIVE MUMM-RA REVEALED

Years ago I attended the "Mattypalooza" panel at SDCC and the question was asked of the MOTU team, "what would your dream toy line to work on be?" All them them, without hesitation, all said "Thundercats". Well, that would certainly be a dream line for Mattel and the Four Horsemen (the sculptors and designers behind Mattel's MOTU line) to work on for collectors, too!

At the time, Bandai held the master license for Thundercats, so it seemed like a it would remain a "dream project" only. But, lucky for us-- and the MOTU crew-- dreams sometimes do come true, and Mattel revealed their acquisition of the Thundercats license at SDCC last year with the Lion-O and Jackalman figures.

A few weeks ago, the rest of the figures for this year's subscription were revealed-- Pumyra and Panthro-- with Mumm-Ra being revealed as the subscription only figure, but with no picture.

Now we have a picture and the exclusive version of Mumm-Ra will be the one in his mummy form. I suppose this is for the best as many collectors who don't want to lock themselves into the subscription can probably live without this version of Mumm-Ra, but would definitely want his "transformed form".

Still, expect this figure to be three or four times the cost of a regular figure once he hits eBay (assuming you choose not to subscribe), and, if this line follows the same trend as the MOTU line, for this figure to only go up in value from there.

I'm 99% sure that I plan on getting the subscription to this line. Thundercats are one of my favorite cartoon series from the 80's, but the old figures always sucked, so this is collector's first chance to really get a proper Thundercats line done the way they deserve to be done!

The subscription is open now over at mattycollector.com and will only stay open until 2/26/2016, so you have until that date to sign up. Also, you only have to pay for one figure at the time you subscribe and then will be billed monthly as the figures are released starting in September with Lion-O.

They will be $25 each for subscribers and $30 each for non-subscribers who will have to buy them one at a time as they're released on the site-- if they don't sell out within minutes like some of the MOTU figures do. Also, be prepared to pay tax and Mattel's outlandish shipping cost on these figures which will jack the price up another $12-$15 each.

TOY NEWS FOR 2/2/2016 - MATTEL/MATTY COLLECTOR - HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE - CLASSICS 2.0 ANIMATION (FILMATION) SERIES PACKAGING REVEALED

I watched just about every episode of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe as a kid, although I don't know why because I don't think I liked it at all. I always wished that the characters were as cool and fierce and mature as they were in the mini-comics and in my mind when I played with the figures.

That being said, there's certainly a large appeal for Mattel's reboot of the Master of the Universe Classics line with the all-Filmation styled figures.

I was on the fence about whether or not I wanted to pick these up (either individually on eBay or through mattycollector.com), but the packaging for these figures is so awesome that I think I'm going to have to get them, or at least some of the main characters.

Here's a closer look at He-Man himself which uses the standard MOTU "buck" with a new Filmation styled head and accurate animation colors and costume.

This new figure line starts in Feb with the release of He-Man ($25.00) and a new figure being released every other month. I assume that if this reboot goes well that Mattel will make the line monthly again in 2017.

TOY NEWS FOR 2/2/2016 - MEZCO - THE ONE:12 COLLECTIVE - BATMAN VS SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE - BATMAN and SUPERMAN 6" FIGURES

I really love the concept of this line. 6" scale figures with highly articulated bodies, real cloth costumes and multiple hands, heads and accessories. It really is like a 6" version of Hot Toys.

I do own the Dark Knight figure, which is quite beautiful. The Judge Dredd also looks great, but I don't think I'll be picking up that one. These new figures from Batman v Superman look pretty exceptional, as well, but I'm not a huge DC collector, so I'm not sure if they'll make their way into my collection.

But for those collectors who find the Mattel figures too crappy and the Hot Toys figures too pricey, Mezco's One:12 Collective figures might be the perfect fit.

I'm sure we'll be seeing more pics and info on these two (and hopefully a reveal of a Wonder Woman from the film) at Toy Fair in a few weeks.

Batman is set for a June/July release with Superman set for a July/Aug release. Both will be $75.00 each.

TOY NEWS FOR 2/2/2016 - HASBRO - MARVEL LEGENDS - UNOFFICIAL OFFICIAL LOOK AT CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR WAVE 1 AND 2 FIGURES

The Marvel Legends Community on FB has posted this pic of the back of the packaging for the first wave of Marvel Legends figures from Captain America: Civil War.

We had previously seen the official pictures of Captain America, Iron Man and Black Panther from this wave, but now we're getting a look at the rest of the figures in this wave.

The other three figures will be Nuke, [the original] Nick Fury and Red Guardian with the Build-A-Figure from the wave being "Giant-Man", a Pym Particle powered Ant-Man grown to Giant-Man size.

This is a bit of a spoiler from the film, but it's not really that surprising that Ant-Man uses the particles to grow as well as shrink in CW.

Nuke was shown at SDCC many years ago, so it looks like Hasbro finally found a way to release him. I'm not a huge fan of the character, but with most of Cap's other main antagonists covered, I guess they need to dip a little further into the well.

The Nick Fury is a fantastic addition as we've desperately needed a new Fury for quite some time now. The first one (Toy Biz) was cool and very "Steranko", the second one was a nice update, but not that great. Hopefully this Fury will hit the mark and be the new definitive Nick Fury for our Marvel Legends displays.

Red Guardian...? So, he's essentially the Soviet version of Cap, but he's a D list character. I think Hasbro is reaching a bit with this choice. I'm predicting him as the year long peg warmer of the line.

Other than him, this wave is pretty great.

Oh, but wait... What about Wave 2?

Well, there's been some info on that, too, thanks to some images of some figure SKU's and descriptions.

Confirmed via this image are-- King Cobra, Iron Skull, Age of X Captain America, Captain Britain, Crossbones and Scarlet Witch. I think I'm pretty safe in assuming that the Crossbones and Scarlet Witch will be the movie versions. The Build-A-Figure has yet to be confirmed.

Personally, I'll be picking up Black Panther--who I think will fit in with the comic styled figures as a "All-New All-Different" version of the character--, Nick Fury and possibly Iron Skull. I'm not a fan of any of the previous versions of his figure(s). I especially despise any ML figure with that damned trench coat that renders the figure impossible to pose, so if this one hits the mark, I'll use him as my default RS.

Okay, so I might not be Leonardo DiCaprio. I didn't get hacked to shreds by a bear. I didn't seek revenge against the soulless bastard who left me for dead.

But, I am back from "the dead"!

It's been a year since I closed things down here due to the need to focus on personal and professional things in my life-- and I still need to continue to do both of those things-- but, I just can't seem to stay away from my passion for toys and action figures. So, I'm going to try to keep a steady stream of new posts and info here on upcoming products.

I might take me a while to get back to the daily posts that I used to do, but I'll be doing my best.
