UPDATE 3/5/2013 - OFFICIAL PICS!!!

These aren't the good, hi-res pics yet, but they are our first look at the actual figures of both Prowl and Bluestreak!

Both are very much geared after the cartoon. Bluestreak even has his cartoon colors!

Thankful, they both even have slightly different headsculpts. They also have different rims and crotches and Prowl doesn't seem to have his cannons-- which is also cartoon accurate. (Although he may still include them.)

On the "bad news" side of things, both of these figures have been pushed back till August, with Smokescreen slated for sometime in the 4th quart of this year.

UPDATE 1/28/2013 - MP-19 BLUESTREAK ANNOUNCED!

In a move that will probably shock no one, Takara has announced that they will be using the new MP mold to create Bluestreak as well! He is slated for a September release.

Now, the question is: what color scheme will Takara use? Will he be his original silver G1 colors? Will he be silver and black like the animation colors? Or will Takara produce a figure that actually looks like the original box art (pictured above)?

The last one would be my personal choice, followed by his animation colors.

This comes as some fantastic news to Transformers fans world wide!

It looks like Takara is committed to continuing their Transformers Masterpiece line on a more regular basis now, and next up are Autobots Prowl and Smokescreen.

Unfortunately, these are no pictures yet, but I can expect that some form of unpainted prototype pics will be hitting the web soon (as that is Takara's usual method of showing off new TFMP figures.)

So, it's kind of obvious that Takara likes to reuse molds to get the most bang for their buck-- which is totally understandable. With that in mind, we can only wonder which original G1 shared mold figures will be up next.

Ironhide/Ratchet?

Trailbreaker/Hoist?

Grapple/Inferno?

And will this method make it more difficult to get figures like Wheeljack, Sunstreaker and Mirage produced? And what about a much-needed new Megatron for the new MP scale?

I guess we'll have to wait to find the answers to these questions in time, but for now, I'm extremely happy to see one of my personal favorite Autobots, Prowl, coming soon! (He was actually the first TF I ever owned as a kid.) And it's interesting that they are releasing him with Smokesceen and not Bluestreak. I do assume that we will see Bluestreak soon, but I hope that he's not some kind of exclusive!

Both figures have a release date of July.
