No price point has been announced yet, but my guess is that this set is going to be somewhere between $125 and $150. Considering that to get the same figures from Takara that it will be costing you at least $300, the US version is going to be a bargain.
Now usually there is a color change between the US and Takara versions, and this is the case once again with Soundwave. He will the the original G1 yellow colored eyes as opposed to the cartoon accurate red eyes that the Takara version had. All the cassettes however look to be the same as their original Takara releases.
Hasbro forgot to pull out the tab that creates Ravage's nose. Way to go Hasbro!
Of course the big question is: how hard will this set be to get? Will it be like the Masterpiece Optimus Prime-- which was a total bitch to find. Or will it be more like Thundercracker-- which is still plentiful on the shelves months after being released? Hopefully Toys R Us-- the exclusive place to find this set-- will order the right quantity to fulfill the demand without ordering too many and killing the market.
Next up is a brand new character appearing for the first time in the line-- and he's appearing in the US first. (There is no Takara version.) This guy is a Decepticon named Acid Storm.
He is based on a few oddly colored seeker jets that appeared in the original cartoon known as the "Rainmakers". (You can also see Sunstorm on the far right who has had his own Takara Masterpiece figure in Japan.)
Acid Storm has also appeared in the Transformers Universe line.
No release dates or prices have been officially announced yet, but they are slated to hit Toys R Us sometimes later in the year.
