TOY NEWS FOR 3/31/2014 - McFARLANE TOYS - THE WALKING DEAD (TV) - SERIES 6 (ANNOUNCEMENT)

Today McFarlane Toys announced which characters fans can expect to see in the next assortment based on the TV series.

They include--
  • Rick Grimes (in his button-down shirt, I presume)
  • Carol Peletier
  • Hershel Greene
  • Abraham Ford
  • "Bungie Guts" Zombie (no idea which one that will be)

Look for this series to hit stores some time late summer.

TOY NEWS FOR 3/31/2014 - KIDS LOGIC - KIDS NATIONS - TRANSFORMERS - MINI-FIGURE SET

These new mini-figures from Kids Logic will stand at about 3.5" tall and all feature light-up eyes, but more than that, they look really cool!

I can't help it, I'm just a total G1 Transformers nut so the appeal of these figures is just off the charts for me.

But, they aren't going to come cheap. As import toys, the set will cost about 120 bucks, putting them at $24 each for kind of a tiny little figure.

There will also be a variant Nemesis Prime, but no word yet on how it can be attained.

Look for the set in July for $119.99

TOY NEWS FOR 3/31/2014 - KAIYODO - REVOLTECH - NICKELODEON TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES FIGURES COMING SOON!

Check out these pics from a recent showing in Japan featuring Kaiyodo's Revoltech brand Ninja Turtles.

These certainly look more accurate to the animation style of the new series than Playmate's versions (although I also really like their Turtles as well.)

Not much info is available just yet, but word is that they are looking at a September release.

TOY NEWS FOR 3/31/2014 - THREEZERO - TITANFALL - 20" TITAN

I have yet to own either of the two next-gen consoles, but I wish I did because Titanfall looks amazing!

Something else I'm sure will be equally as amazing will be ThreeZero's recently announced 20" tall Titan mech. They are the masters of mech making!

More detail to come...

TOY NEWS FOR 3/31/2014 - BANDAI - S.H. MONSTERARTS - 1995 GODZILLA

Coming this summer from Bandai's SH Monsterarts line comes another Godzilla, this time based on his 1995 appearance in the film "Godzilla vs Destroyah".

With Destrayah already released a while ago, this will be the perfect addition to complete your display-- not to mention that this is an awesome version of Godzilla, with all the right mix of classic Godzilla and his more updated [Japanese] movie appearances.

He'll be released in July for around $75.00

TOY NEWS FOR 3/27/2014 - HOT TOYS - MMS - CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER - CAPTAIN AMERICA (STEALTH SUIT) (SNEAK PEEK)

Thanks to a showing in China we're getting our first look at Hot Toys' upcoming Captain America in his SHIELD Stealth Suit.

TOY NEWS FOR 3/27/2014 - TAKARA/TOMY - TRANSFORMERS MASTERPIECE - MP-21 WHEELJACK (FINAL IMAGES)

At last! Here are Takara's images of the fully painted version of MP-21, fan favorite Wheeljack!

One word: awesome.

It's late and I'm tired as hell, so I'm not gonna ramble on and on like I usually do and instead just show the pictures and let you all drool with the same anticipation that I have for this figure.

He's set for an August release for $79.99

TOY NEWS FOR 3/27/2014 - HOT TOYS - MMS - CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER - WINTER SOLDIER

Just when I thought I was finally going to be able to take myself to bed (it's 4:30 AM here at the moment), I came across some more news that I just had to bring you guys-- namely Hot Toys' unveiling of their Winter Soldier figure.

This is now the 3rd figure in just as many weeks that Hot Toys has shown us for this film. From what I know, there are still two more to go: Steve Rogers in his SHIELD uniform and The Falcon.

The Winter Solider looks pretty damned good. I'm not quite sure how I feel about how they created his metal arm... I guess I was expecting something more cool and [shiny] metallic looking.

I'm really, really looking forward to this movie. Cap is my favorite Marvel hero and this film looks to the most directly related to the Avengers film.

He's set for a February 2015 release for a hefty $239.99

TOY NEWS FOR 3/27/2014 - PLAY ARTS KAI - ARKHAM ORIGINS - BATMAN and DEATHSTROKE

I just bought this game and am up to the point where I have my first encounter with Deathstroke-- and he is kicking my ass. (In fact, as soon as I finish this post, I'm going to make another attempt at getting past him.)

I used to own Play Arts' figures from Arkham City, but I recently sold them. There's just something about Play Arts figures that look good, but just don't display or play well to me.

First off, I don't like the scale. They're just too big. The joints are also too clunky and the figures never, ever stand on their own. Every day they'd shelf dive to the floor under their own weight.

I keep waiting for them to reach the level of quality that their prices suggest that they're at, but I haven't seen it just yet. That being said, these figures do look hella impressive. That Deathstroke could be the best looking Deathstroke figure ever produced thus far. Looking at him here, he has a very Metal Gear Solid feel to him, doesn't he? (Nothing wrong with that, though!)

Batman also looks good, but I never liked Play Arts' capes. They're too huge and stiff and make posing the figure almost impossible.

Alright, enough ragging on Play Arts, I'll just show you the figures and you can make your own judgement.

These will be out sometime late summer/early fall for Play Arts new (and ridiculous) price of $99.99 each.
