TOY NEWS FOR 11/29/2013 - ENTERBAY - 1/6 SCALE MASTERPIECE - "THE BIG BOSS" BRUCE LEE

Celebrating Bruce Lee's introduction to the Asian movie market, and his first step towards his rocket to stardom, comes this new 1/6 scale figure from Enterbay based on that move: The Big Boss.

I'm not a Bruce Lee "super fan", but I did love watching his movies on TV as kid. But then again, I was into all the movies that aired on "Kung Fu Theater" back then!

As expected, this figure looks absolutely flawless.

Price and release date should be coming soon.

TOY NEWS FOR 11/29/2013 - DIAMOND/MARVEL SELECT - SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN (DISNEY STORE EXCLUSIVE)

This has to be the dumbest storyline in all of Spider-Man history. Even worse than the infamous "Ben Reilly clone Spidey" story from years and years go.

Dr. Octopus' consciousness takes over Peter Parker's body, and Parker, stuck in Doc Ock's fragile body dies??

Good God, they really are running out of Spider-Man stories, aren't they?

Well, if you've been a fan of this version of Spider-Man-- known as "Superior Spider-Man", then this Disney Store exclusive figure is just for you!

Hopefully they will also make a new Peter Parker version of Spidey for the line. Both of the figures they've released so far are pretty bad and out of date.

No details on this figure yet, but I'll let you know as soon as they become available.

TOY NEWS FOR 11/29/2013 - PLAY ARTS KAI - DC VARIANT - AQUAMAN AND CYBORG

You know, I wish I was more of a "DC guy", because if I was, I'd be all over this line.

Square Enix's redesigns of DC Comics' heavyweights has been one hell of an awesome series. I'd love to see them do something like this with the Marvel license.

I don't think Aquaman has ever looked better, and he certainly has the appearance of the "King of the Seven Seas". Love the water effects, too.

Cyborg looks formidable as hell. Dangerous yet very heroic.

These won't be out until Q3 of next year, so you've got plenty of time to save your pennies. They'll both be priced at $89.99 each.

TOY NEWS FOR 11/29/2013 - PLAY ARTS KAI - METAL GEAR SOLID: GROUND ZEROES - SOLID SNAKE

I really like this version of Snake and the figure definitely looks fantastic.

It's probably gonna be a while before I can jump into the next gen consoles (I just don't have a spare $1,000 laying around at the moment. Go figure), but the when I do, the new Metal Gear is definitely going to be at the top of my must-have list.

Snake will be out in April for a staggering $99.99

This is yet another huge price hike from Play Arts. In the past year, their figures have gone from $60 each to now $100 for Snake. In my opinion, they are no where near worth $100.

They are ten times better than than most US figures (save possibly NECA), but they sure as hell aren't worth ten times the price. Their figures still have too many quality issues for me to pay anything near $100.

[NOT] TOY NEWS FOR 11/28/2013 - HAPPY "TURKEY DAY"!!!

In celebration of Thanksgiving (aka "Turkey Day") here in the states, I've decided to take a look at [some freakishly odd] action figures that come with turkeys!

First up is a 12" GI Joe type action figure that was available through Walmart.

Meet "Turkey Hunter Dan".

What could be better than teaching kids the safety of hunting wild turkeys with an action figure, where they can play out murderous scenarios before they take the new rifle that "pa" got them out into the dangerous, turkey infested woods!

Here's the description (which I love) of the figure from Walmart's website:

"Imagine the dogwood trees are in full bloom and the sun is just beginning to peek over the horizon as Hunter Dan awaits that first thunderous gobble of the morning. Maybe this will be the day that the sweet notes from his Quaker Boy box call will lure in Boss Tom. Your child can help guide Hunter Dan as he sets up on ol' "Boss" in hopes of calling in the mighty warrior in full strut. Hunter Dan encourages all of his hunting buddies to attend an approved hunter education course before actually going afield. Play it safe with Hunter Dan."

Next up is another action figure in the same vein as Dan. This figure is of The Outdoor Channel's host of the Bone Collector TV show-- Michael Waddell. As you can see, they really captured a stunning likeness here, and, once again, the figure is just top notch. Wow! GI Joe's got nothin' on this guy!

He comes with a backpack, hat and-- of course-- a shotgun for killin' 'dem damned turkeys!

And lastly we've got the Clown figure from the early days-- 1994 to be exact-- of McFarlane Toys' Spawn line.

The Clown here doesn't have the patience to go huntin' for his own turkeys-- much like the rest of us on this day-- and instead just gnaws on some store bought turkey to feed his fat belly!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!!

TOY NEWS FOR 11/28/2013 - HOT TOYS - MMS - AVENGERS - DR. BRUCE BANNER AND BANNER/HULK SET (REGIONAL PREMIUM EDITION)

Hot Toys teased this figure in some behind-the-scenes photos almost a year ago, so most of us knew the figure was coming.

Personally, it's an easy "pass" for me. I loved Banner in the movie-- as well as the comics-- but as far as needing Mark Ruffalo on my toy shelf...?  Not so much.

I'm sure those completists out there will be happy to see this figure, however.

(Fun Fact: Did you know that in the original 70's Hulk television show that the network changed Dr. Bruce Robert Banner's name to just Robert Banner because they said "Bruce" was too indicative of a "gay man's name"? Ah, bigotry/stupidity, let's hope that you're time has passed and that you stay in the bye-gone era that you belong in.)

If you haven't been able to acquire yourself a Hulk yet then perhaps this deluxe set will appeal to you.

It's being called a "regional premium edition". I'm guessing that the region in question will be Hong Kong, meaning that getting it outside of China won't be easy. But, on the other hand, Sideshow has imported almost all of HT's other "exclusives", so they may have some of these sets available through them as well. We should know the answer to that within the next 48 hours when Sideshow updates their site with these new products.

What I do wish the original Hulk release came with-- and what many people complained about him not having-- is that awesome stand!! I know there will be people selling it separately, and that it won't be cheap, but I'm going to have to do my best to try to grab one for my Hulk

Bruce will be $189.99 and the set (which Sideshow is carrying) will cost $509.99. Both are set for release in September.

TOY NEWS FOR 11/23/2013 - ENTERBAY - 1/4 SCALE ROBOCOP (WORK IN PROGRESS)

UPDATE - 11/26/2013 - NOW PHOTOS AND VIDEO!

This things is crazy!! Just check out the video to see the action features!!

He talks!! His head moves by itself!! And his leg holster opens and closes!! All activated by remote!!!

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just in case you didn't have enough options when it came to adding a Robocop to your collection, you now have the massive 1/4 scale Robocop figure from Enterbay to look forward to.

Looks to be coming along nicely, but it it's not the Peter Weller version (the backpack that he's wearing in the pics is from Robocop 3 which didn't star Weller) then I think that may turn a lot of collectors off.

Here's a look at the work in progress of the figure.

TOY NEWS FOR 11/23/2013 - BANDAI - S.I.C. - KAMEN RIDER OOO SaGaZo COMBO

Thanks to this recent magazine pictorial, we finally get a better look at yet another Kamen Rider OOO figure/combo, SaGaZo.

I'm glad they included the option for the regular legs along with the more exaggerated version. This is the first time we're seeing this inclusion of the regular legs.

The cool thing about all the K.R. OOO figures is the they can all be disassembled and reassembled in different combos!

Expect to see official images and info on this figure soon.

TOY NEWS FOR 11/23/2013 - BANDAI - S.H. FIGUARTS - KAMEN RIDER IMPERER (TAMASHII WEB EXCLUSIVE)

One of the later Riders to appear in the Kamen Rider Ryuki series, Kamen Rider Imperer is getting the SH Figuarts treatment. But sadly, for collectors outside of Japan, he'll be a Tamashii Web exclusive, meaning you'll be paying about double for this figure from most import dealers.

He's set to be released in Japan in April for a Yen price of Y4,100

TOY NEWS FOR 11/23/2013 - BANDAI - S.H. FIGUARTS - KAMEN RIDER KABUTO (RENEWAL VERSION)

Here are some images of the upcoming "renewal" version of Kamen Rider Kabuto. I love the designs in this series. The "bug" designs are always some of my favorites, and the Kabuto series had plenty of them.

Look for him to hit the US in April for around $50.00
