The first time I saw the Iron Man 3 trailer, my first thought was, "That was awesome!!!" My second thought was, "oh my god, how many figures is Hot Toys going to make from this movie??"
Well, we're finally starting to get a clearer answer to that question.
First it was announced that most of the figures from IM3 would be in a new diecast format. Then they showed the first in that series, Iron Patriot, followed by Iron Man in his Mk 42 armor, also in diecast.
Now comes the announcement that Hot Toy has plans to mine the Iron Man 3 film for as much product as they can. They have announced three new products based off of the most noticeable armors from the recent trailer.
First up is the Mk XVII "Heartbreaker" Armor which will be part of the Diecast series.
Next is the massive Mk XXXVIII "Igor" Armor. This will just be a regular MMS figure and not diecast. I'm assuming that this thing will be about the size of the Iron Monger, so adding diecast will just make it too heavy, unwieldy and expensive.
Finally is the Mk XXXV "Redsnapper" Armor. This will be a part of the new Power Pose Series, which means it will basically be a 1/6 scale stature with a few interchangeable parts for create a slightly different pose.
No prices or release dates yet, but since the Mk 42 isn't scheduled to be released until next year, I wouldn't expect to see any of these until some time next year as well.
