Here are some nice pics of the final production piece for Mattel's Superman Movie Masterpiece figure from this summer's Man of Steel movie-- thanks my fellow bloggers over at Big Boys Toys.
Now, if you'll notice, he's missing that hideous and archaic "ab crunch" cut joint in the middle of his chest. While this limits his articulation, it makes for a much better looking figure in my opinion. I like the extra articulation, but that joint that Mattel uses is so ridiculous and unsightly. If they really want to move their action figures forward, (which means re-sculpting a lot of their standard "bucks") it's time to use a hidden ball joint mid chest and in the waist. Hasbro could stand to do this with a lot of their figures, too.
Getting back to the figure itself, I think it looks really great. The packaging looks excellent, and the addition of the stand is just another plus.
