The more I see from Dynamite Action the more convinced I become that I've really got to own some of their robots.
These two however, I'm not overly familiar with. I've seen their images on dozens of toys and models over the years, but unlike many other robots of the 70's and 80's, I never saw much more of them and I'm pretty unfamiliar with their stories.
But, lucky, I can to a little research and find out anything on the web! So, here's what I found...
Apparently the reason I've never seen Atlanger in an anime is because he's never had one! What??? A Japanese robot without an anime or manga series? From what I can tell, this guy is actually from a highly successful model kit series, and that where he starts and ends. Still, he has an awesome design, and he also has the gimmick of being comprised of different vehicles that all combine to form the robot.
Atlanger Ace, I'm assuming, is some "hyper form" of Atlanger himself.
Mach Baron is from a live action action television show (Super Robot Mach Baron) from 1974 and the sequel to the "Super Robot Red Baron" show. The story is the usual "good vs evil" stuff. Both iterations of the characters have been popular in Japanese pop culture for decades.
Atlanger is due to be released in May for around $260 or so, depending on where you can find him. Mach Baron will be out in June for around $150. (Note: This is for the metallic version which is shown here in the pics.)
Atlanger Ace is going to be a Evolution Toy Web Shop Exclusive and will sell for Y10,000 (aprox $100 USD). No release date yet.
