TOY NEWS FOR 5/24/2013 - DIAMOND SELECT - STAR TREK LEGACY - MINIMATES - SERIES 1

Minimates continue to be endure. I'm not a big fan of their design, or the cheap look (paint) and feel of them (plastic) (I prefer something along the lines of Kubrick figures), but they certainly retain a certain amount of decent value considering their affordability-- which is probably what keeps them alive.

However, if I'd be tempted to buy any Mimimates, as a life-long Star Trek fan, it would be these. (I did buy the Avengers Movie Minimates but they only lasted on my shelf for about 20 days and have been back in their boxes in my closet ever since.)

If there are two things I'd love to see Diamond Select change it would be the heads and hands. Their heads are good for characters with hats or hair, but for bald or masked characters, that flat-top head just looks awful to me. All they need is one little piece on top to slightly round it out. And the hands just need a little bit more shape and realism to them. But, hey, that's just my opinion. If you're a fan of this line, then yours may vary.
