Expect to see a lot from McFarlane Toys over the next three days as they begin their "Winter Showcase".
Revealed and up for pre-order now are some new Spawn series figures. As mentioned in my previous post, Overtkill is up for pre-order already, and joining him are Haunt, Raven Spawn v2, Ninja Spawn and a deluxe Spawn with Throne.
The regular figures will run you $24.99 each and Spawn with his Throne will run $41.99. All are listed for a July release date.
McFarlane has been releasing Spawn figures again for some time now, but this is the first official new Spawn himself that we've gotten in the line, and... McFarlane shit the bed with this one.
What is Spawn most known for? When you think of McFarlane's drawings of Spawn, what do you first think of? His huge, cool cape. What does this figure have? A tiny, little baby-sized cape so he can sit on his throne.
DUMB!
How about giving us a cape to put on him when he's not on the throne? Why not add in a second cape? Who is going to want to display this Spawn off of the throne is he can't look like the Spawn we all want?
You finally give collectors and Spawn fans a modern Spawn and you take the dumb, lazy, cheap and stupid route. Way to go McFarlane.
