This latest batch of figure look really good. Well, except for "Max", who is supposed to be a bobcat, but I'm not sure what the hell kind of animal that cheap looking blob of plastic is supposed to be.

Other than that though, I think the made great choices on which parts to use to re-create these particular figures. I'm not 100% on board with Hit & Run because he does deviate from his original design quite a bit, but I wasn't a huge fan of the original 25th Ann style interpretation either. But still, I'll definitely say that he's a good representation of that character.

 UPDATE 1/23/2013 - CRIMSON ASP & SAW-VIPER RELEALED!

SAW-Viper is looking good! And it's nice to see that they actually give him the correct weapon that he's named after (S.A.W. = Squad Automatic Weapon).

As for Crimson Asp... She looks about how I expected her too-- aside from the eye patch, which is a bit of a surprise. Unsurprisingly however is the fact that she's just another re-use of a Baroness mold, but regardless of that, it's always good when you can add another female character to your ranks.

UPDATE 1/23/2013 - MUSKRAT & PSYCHE-OUT RELEALED!

Definitely like the way they created Psyche-Out. Looks fantastic!

UPDATE 1/22/2013 - CHARBROIL REVEALED!

GI Joe 2013 Convention Exclusive Night Force Boxed Set - Charbroil figure

Accurate to the original Night Force Charbroil, but kinda dull. The addition of the flame is pretty damn cool, though!

Personaly, I'm much more interested in seeing all the exclusive Night Force figure released in the regular versions at some point in the future.

UPDATE 1/21/2013 - FIRST FIGURES REVEALED!

Well, color me underwhelmed so far.

The Frag Viper looks.... just kinda "okay". Certainly not as good as other "kit bashed" figures that the club has created to represent unproduced figures for their Joe Con exclusives. (Last year's Darklon and Annihilators were awesome!) The original '89 Frag-Viper had a thick, puffy uniform (kind of anti-incendiary) that was pulled over the tops of his boots. This costume looks silly with the skin-tight wet-suit and his little "booties".

Head sculpt looks good though, and I'm glad to see that he'll come with his original backpack (no grenades it seems) and "throwing thingie" (official name!)

Well, if the Frag-Viper was kind of a let-down, then this guy is an even uglier and more neon let-down. He's called the Cobra Lethal because you'll die of laughter when you see this fruity colored nightmare of a trooper headed towards you.

But at the top of the let-down list is this figure-- the Cobra Mortal.

Wait-- What?!? That's the infamous Cobra Mortal???? That looks nothing like the Cobra Mortal.

The Cobra Mortal is supposed to looks like this--

So what the hell are they doing giving us this--??

Yeah... the fans are not gonna be happy about this.

Let's hope that the rest of the figures in this set are better......

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you're one of the lucky few who are planning to attend the GI Joe Convention in Indianapolis this year, the details of this year's annual Convention Figure Boxed Set have been revealed!

The set will be based on the very popular (and very expensive) Night Force sub-line from the original American Hero series.

Here is what the set will include:

Joes--
  • Charbroil
  • Hit & Run
  • Muskrat
  • Psyche-Out
  • Repeater
  • Spearhead & Max
Cobras--
  • Cobra Mortal (based on the crazy rare international figure from the 80's!)
  • Crimson Asp (a new female character)
  • Cobra Frag-Vipers x3
  • Cobra SAW-Vipers x3
Now, this is the very first time that we are seeing a lot of these characters done in the "25th Style". The only figure that he seen a prior release is Hit & Run, all the rest have never been released in the "25th Style" in their non-Night Force colors.

So is this an indication of what the club might have in store for us in the future as well? Will we see Charbroil, Muskrat, Psych-Out, Repeater and Spearhead in their regular colors at some point? Perhaps as future Club or Subscription exclusives? It only makes sense, especially the way that the club likes to use repainted, already existing figures.

There's still plenty more to be announced for the GI Joe Convention this year, and I'll bring it all to you as soon as it's announced!
