TOY NEWS FOR 1/23/2013 - HASBRO - MORE IRON MAN 3 FIGURES COMING SOON

UPDATE 1/25/2013 - SERIES 2 FIGURES!

It seems that an industrious young lad by the name of Thedevilsdue06 over on the MavelousNews.com forums has, through a retail store computer, discovered which figures will be in Series 2 of Hasbro's Iron Man Marvel Legends line.

According to the store's computer (and the pic he took of the computer's screen, confirming his story), the next figure will be--

 - Iron Man Mk42 (Iron Man 3)
 - Iron Patriot (Iron Man 3)
 - Classic Ultron

UPDATE 1/25/2013 - PACKAGED PICS OF IRON MAN 3 MARVEL LEGENDS SERIES 1

Looking pretty good, actually.

See? I'll give Hasbro their props when they earn them...

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh............

This is a mixed bag from Hasbro. I think it boils down to this: Marvel Legends figure = "Hey! Nice!" Everything else = poop.

Starting with the good stuff, here's a look at Series 1 of the Iron Man 3 Marvel Legends figure assortment. The "classic" IM seems to be a re-release from the old TRU 2-Pack, the Iron Patriot is repaint of the current Marvel Legends IM, but the "Heroic Age" Iron Man seems to be a new sculpt. Personally, that's the only one I'd be after in this wave.

Of course, since this series is a build-a-figure series, and we're only getting half the parts to build Iron Monger, we have to assume that there will be a series 2.

Moving on, we now have the assorted garbage that litters toy isles of every Walmart and Toys R Us across the country. The sad thing is that this kind of stuff sells. Kids see it, decide they want it, and moms and dads buy it, and that's how that goes.

So, to that end, Hasbro has created some low-end, easily affordable figures (similar to Mattel's recent 3.75" figures from DK Rises) that have very limited articulation and paint apps. These are called "All-Stars". (Really???)

There's also a 12" figure coming under the Titan Heroes Series at an affordable 11.99 price point. Again, this is one for the kiddies.

It's clear that there will be a lot of IM product coming this summer, so you can expect to see plenty of it in the toy isles through Christmas at the very least. But, IM is the top selling character for Marvel/Hasbro, so it's safe to assume that this crap stuff is only the tip of the iceberg.
