When I first saw the silhouette of what was obviously a Mazinger teaser image from the Dynamite Action line, the one thing that didn't look right to me was that his chest plate seemed to come up too high on the sides and also that the Pilider's wings on his head also looked over-sized. It was clearly Mazinger, but something wasn't quite right.
Well, as it turns out, that's because it wasn't the Mazgina that we all think of when we think of, well, Mazinga! As it turns out, it will be Z Mazinger-- not Mazinger Z-- that will be joining the ranks of the Dynamite Action line!
So, who is Z Mazinger?
Z Mazinger is a manga series re-imagining of Mazginer Z produced by his creator (and Japan pop-culture god) Go Nagi-- thus keeping this "re-imagining" from being complete sacrilege.
In this version, the story is based around Greek Gods and the idea that they are alien robot/monster but that the humans saw them as Gods. To combat these "gods", Zeus created Mazinger (thus it being called Z Mazinger-- the "Z" standing to Zeus) to combat these other "gods". Like the original story, Mazinger is once again piloted by Koji Kabuto.
So far we only have these unpainted protoypes to look at, but they are looking rather cool!
Personally, I'd much prefer a Bandai version of Z Mazinger since most of my robot collection is comprised of Soul of Chogoin-- and I like diecast (Bandai) to full plastic (which Dynamite Action figures are.)
I'll be keeping an eye on this one, though. Being a bit of a Mazinger die-hard fan, I've got to have a Z Mazinger for my collection, so this Dynamite Action version may still just fit they bill yet!

Okay, it's official, I'll definitely be starting my Dynamite Action figure collection very soon.
With this teaser of Mazinger, and there recent prototype pics of Danguard Ace-- my two favorite Japanese Robots of all time-- I am in for this line!
Hopefully we'll see some kind of more official images soon.
