PLAYMATES - NEW STAR TREK FIGURES AND MORE REVEALED

 Here it is-- Playmates' triumphant return to Star Trek, a brand that originally ran for years and years for them "back in the day". Will it be another hit for them again? Only time will tell.

It looks like they are sticking to their original 5" scale for these new figures, perhaps with the intent for the original collectors to add these to their old collections and keep the brand moving forward as if it never stopped.

They do have a bit of that original flavor, but with more realistic proportions and much better articulation.

While not shown here, I'll assume that each figure will come with an assortment of accessories.

There will be a total of eight figures planned for 2022.

First up is Kirk, Spock and Khan from the Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan movie.

 

Next up is The Next Generation being represented by Picard, Riker and Data.

 

 Finally, we have some never before produced characters from Star Trek: Discovery with Burnham and Saru joining the Star Trek figure realm.

But, what would a Playmates Star Trek line be without some ships and role play items? Well, Playmates has got us covered with a 22" long representation of the original NCC-1907 Enterprise and a phaser from The Original Series, both of which will include lights and sounds.

Look for this new Star Trek merch to be hitting stores in July of this year.
