TOY NEWS FOR 8/12/2014 - SDCC 2014 COVERAGE - TOYNAMI - SHOGUN WARRIORS and GODZILLA

I saw these same prototype versions of Toynami's planned revival of [Mattel's] the old Shogun Warriors line at least year's SDCC.However, there they were again, in the same prototype form, with no real progress happening with the line that I could see of.

Toynami won't be reproducing the same characters that appeared in the original line (although that might be cool!), but instead have created all new characters of their own.

One is a Mayan styled robot named "Mayan Jumbo" (which I assume is a nod to the term "Jumbo Machinder" which is what they call giant robot toys (Shogun Warriors) in Japan) and the other is an ancient Egyptian styled robot named "Pyramis Ra". Both look really awesome and will make for some great jumbo-styled robots, but the question is: what's the hold up?

Toynami also planning to release a brand new version of a Shogun Warriors style Godzilla-- which has me pretty excited. The original was one of my favorite toys as a kid.

It's not a complete remake of the original but rather a whole new version and sculpt done in that classic Shogun style.

Hopefully we'll get some news on this line from Toynami before another year passes us by again.
